Outdoor swimming pools in Florence you’ll love this summer
A selections of the best swimming pools in Florence for hot summer days: pools, sports club, and water parks perfect for families.
Florence can get really hot in summer and having access to a pool can make a real lifesaver.
When the heat of July and August descends onto the city, sightseeing during the day can become impossible but, thankfully, Florence has lovely outdoors pools you can enjoy without advance planning and with kids!
I have discovered the pleasures of Florence’s pools during a heatwave one summer: as 42C degrees burned the streets, we found refuge in pools that were nothing less than blissful.
These are our tried and tested addresses of the best outdoor swimming pools in Florence you can enjoy with the kids.
I hope you enjoy it and you can add a day at the pool to your list of the best things to do in Florence with kids!
Apologies for the lack of photos! Since I go as a user myself, I didn’t manage to take many photos without other people’s kids so for this post, I only have one of the Pavoniere which shows the actual pool.
Need to know: in Italy, pools require the use of swimming caps. They are usually sold at pools and they are most commonly made of polyester, so they do not pull hair and are not as uncomfortable as plastic ones. If you have sensitive kids, I would suggest to bring your own, so you can be sure they are the soft type. This is a hygiene requirement and wearing of the caps is enforced.
Le Pavoniere
Address: Via della Catena 2, Parco delle Cascine (tram stop Kennedy, then a short walk)
Piscina Le Pavoniere is a beautiful, kid friendly pool in Florence Parco delle Cascine (Park), a short tram ride away form the city center.
The pool has some shaded areas, kids area, changing rooms, a cafe/ restaurants with pizza, loungers and umbrellas and has a beautiful upscale feel, despite being a public pool.

Entrance costs start at 6 / 15 Euro depending on day of the week / weekend age of the guest
The pool is popular with summer camps which means it is easy to meet other kids here. A slight downside however is that sometimes the camps can make it a bit of noise.
My kids adored it.
Piscina Costoli
Address: Piazza Enrico Berlinguer, 2, 50137 Florence
Piscina Costoli was our local pool and it is in a sports center, which means is has a casual, relaxed and local feel, although less of a charm than Le Pavoniere or hotel pools.
Very popular with locals and budget friendly, the pool has a toddler pool, 25mt pool, and olympic diving pool, changing areas, a cafe for light lunch and snacks, loungers and umbrellas.
There is a lovely lawn with shaded areas but it tends to get full fast. Make sure you get umbrellas as in other parts of the pool area the shade is limited.
The shallow toddlers’ area is fantastic for little kids and parents and you can sit in water with them as they safely wade in and splash around.
Entrance costs start at 6 Euro, kids under 6 go free.
Piscina Nannini (Bellariva)
Address: Lungarno Aldo Moro, 6, 50136 Firenze, Italy Web: https://rarinantesflorentia.it/sezioni/corsi/piscina-nannini-bellariva/
Piscina Comunale Goffredo Nannini aka Bellariva is a municipal pool on Lungarno famous for swimming courses and training yet also open to the public in summer for independent swimming.
It has several pools including a baby pool, teaching pool and olympic size one, a lawn area for loungers, cafe for snacks (hot dog, pizza etc) and drinks. The feel the informal, local one of a sports center.
Entrance costs start at 8 Euro.
Fattoria di Maiano
Address: Via Benedetto da Maiano 11, 50014 Fiesole (FI) Website: https://www.fattoriadimaiano.com/
Fattoria di Maiano is in Fiesole, immediately above Florence city center, on the hills and it is a place I love as it is where we escape Florence when we want to be in the countryside without having to drive!

The farm has several amenities and a restaurant for families but appears on this list of the best pools in Florence specifically for their stunning outdoors swimming pool, open to non-guests.
The pool is the beautiful garden of the farm, it has stunning views and has the feel of the pool of an elegant country estate. It is also possible to have lunch in their local restaurant, get the kids to join the didactic farm tours and visit the botanic garden.
Availability is limited, inquire for day prices and save your spot before heading there.
Hu Camping in Town

Hu Camping in Town is an all inclusive campsites and holiday village with amazing pools for kids offering day passes to non guests.
This is one of the best swimming pool in Florence for kids as they have a shallow wading pool with soft flooring, an ‘island’ in the center and sprinkles and a bigger pool for older kids and grown ups.
The pool side has some lovely shaded areas, you can get umbrellas and loungers, three is a restaurant and all you need for a relaxing day with the kids.

Hidron Water Park
