Torri del Benaco is on the eastern shore of Lake Garda, in the Veneto region.
The village is about 40km from Verona and 25 Km from Peschiera, the getaway town to the area. The closest airport to Lake Garda and Torri del Benaco is Verona airport and the best way to get to Torri del Benaco is by car.

Visit the Scaligero Castle
The most important landmark in Torri del Benaco is the Scaligero Castle, a beautiful fortress overlooking the town.
The castle rises on the ruins of a Roman fortress and acquired the appearance we see today, with turrets and battlements during the Middle Ages, when it became part of the walls defending the town.
The castle is beautiful and worth a visit. As well as its impressive outside, the castle of Torri del Benaco has a wonderful lemon greenhouse and many interesting rooms with documents and artifacts showcasing the main activities of this area such as fishing and olive harvesting.

Have a stroll in Torri del Benaco historical center
Torri del Benaco has a lovely historical center with small alleys, restaurants and shops.
Some of the houses have colorful facades in warm yellow colors and others are in local stone. You will notice that many are decorated with porticoes and pretty balconies reminiscent of Juliet’s house in Verona.
Torri del Benaco is one of those villages that make you feel like you took a step back into the Middle Ages and it is a delight to discover for an afternoon!
See Torri del Benaco’s clock tower
Torri del Benaco’s clock towers dates back to the XIII century and was part of the main defense mechanism of the city, of which the walls and the castle were also part.
The tower was first restored in the XVI century, when it became the seat of the town administration and was restored again recently, to save it from damages cause by the humidity of the environment.
You can visit the tower inside where you find a small museum or just admire its charming outside, which makes it one of the most distinctive landmarks in Torri.
Have a walk along the lakeshore
One of the best and most relaxing things to do in Torri del Benaco is to take a walk along the lakeside promenade. The promenade follows the water and it is flat and well kept, perfect for a walk but also suitable for families with strollers or kids on scooters.
This is a lovely place to catch the lake views and sit and enjoy the lake breeze!

Have lunch with view over the pretty harbor
Torri del Benaco has many lovely restaurants that overlook the lake and that are perfect for a lunch with a view.
The area is among the best in Italy for culinary traditions: not to be missed are bigoli con le aole (pasta with small lake fish typical of the Verona area), cassata gardesana (a dessert made with ricotta, candied fruit and honey) and Bardolino and Valpolicella wine.

Torri del Benaco is lovely to visit with kids and they will be even more please when they learn there is a playground in the village!
The Torri del Benaco playground has swings, slides, nice benches for parents and cafe’. A lovely place to spend an afternoon in Torri del Benaco with toddlers!

Walk the Tibetan bridge between Crero and Pai
This activitu brings you immediately outside of Torri del Benaco but it is a fun one if you don’t suffer from a fear of heights!
The Tibetan bridge is suspended over a ravine and offers unbelievable views over the lake.
The bridge is about 1 meter wide and it is made of wired ropes and non-slip metal slabs, with good wiring on the sides for safety. The bridge is 45 mt height at its highest point so crossing it feels adventurous!
The bridge connects two popular hiking trails, n.38 and n.39 and you can walk to it in about 40 mins.
This can be a good hiking excursion for adventurous families as the trail is easy: just be aware that the way up to reach the starting point is steep and narrow. You may want to skip this if you don’t like driving on mountain roads or park before the village of Crero and walk.
Go on a lake cruise
One of the best ways to enjoy Lake Garda is by catching the ferry and see the shores from the water. From Torri del Benaco, you can catch the ferry to the other side of the lake and even bring your car, or you can choose among the many cruises leaving from the town and nearby villages: they offer several solutions and stops to suit all needs.
