Salento (Otranto / Lecce area): the very south of Puglia, this area is famous for family friendly beaches and is perfect for summer.

Need to know! When looking for family accommodation in Italy, remember to always look for the exact number of members of your family, even if they are babies or will share a bed with you. Occupancy rules are very strict and they must have all occupants at the time of booking to be sure they give you a suitable room. In some cases, they are able to add an extra bed but make sure you always ask in advance as the risk of being turned away for showing up with additional occupants is real. All the accommodation options in this list have rooms suitable for at least 3 people.
Where to stay in Puglia with kids: how to choose
Puglia offers a wide variety of accommodation options for families, ranging from resort / holiday villages to secluded and upscale country stays, at all price points.
Resort and holiday villages are all inclusive types of stays.
These are places that tend to offer the most, in terms of kids’ activities, and are almost a destination in their own right, offering programs that can keep you and the kids busy pretty much all day long.
Resorts of this type in Italian are often called ‘Villaggi Turistici’.
Country stays in Puglia come in several guises and often go by the name ‘agriturismo’ or ‘masseria’.
Ab agriturismo is a country stay, characterized by some form of agricultural activity on site, such as olive tree groves or vineyards tending.
A masseria is country estate in the South of Italy, made of several buildings originally devoted to accommodation and agricultural activities and now, in most cases, turned into tourist accommodation.
Masserie are in the countryside, tend to have their own land and tend to be secluded and quiet, due to their rural locationl locations.
A little bit like agriturismos in Tuscany, agriturismi and masserie in Puglia come at all levels of price, some of them being luxury stays, some still retaining a more traditional rural charm.
Traditionally, agriturismo and masserie do not offer activities or entertainment, yet international demands for activities such as cooking classes means some of them now offer them.
This is however a quintessentially tourist offering and easier to find a higher end properties catering to overseas tourism with generous budgets.
